What creative venture did you do this year?
Many people say they can’t draw a straight line (that’s why rulers were invented) as an excuse for NOT being creative.
Yet we forget all the different creative forms we make.
Some people are professional artist. These are people who have chosen the title of ‘artist’. They study the masters, work with paint and clay and stone and display their efforts in galleries and museums.
While everyone else can view their ‘art’ and be inspired, they go home with ideas and create their own. Maybe it is baking? Maybe it is gardening? Maybe it is singing in a choir? Maybe it is learning to play an instrument? Maybe it is dancing? Maybe it is sewing? Maybe it is knitting? Maybe it is detailing your auto? Maybe it is building a shed for your mother? Maybe it is cutting hair? Maybe it is teaching? Maybe it is posting a podcast? Maybe writing a book? Maybe making a movie?
Everyday chores or projects or hobbies require being creative. Following directions can be ‘tweaked’ with new ideas and techniques. The final may not be displayed in a renowned art show, but can be admired on the internet.
As you are decorating the tree for the holiday season, think of all the creation’s you have done this year. Being creative is learning, thinking, experimenting and enjoying the venture.
Have fun.
